History of Silat Seni Gayong
Silat Seni Gayong is believed to come from an Island called Pulau Selawase (Pulau Celebes) which is one of the largest Islands in the Eastern parts of Indonesia. It is owned by the descendants of the Bugis. Silat Seni Gayong is also known as Silat Sendi Harimau in the Island back then.

Its existence in the land of the Malay Peninsula first begin in the constitution of the State of Melaka in the 15th Century, which was during the reign of King Srivijaya (Sultan Manshor Shah).

Silat was also used to oppose the Dutch Colonizers in the past by the people of Makassar (Bugis) who was led by Panglima Hitam around 1667.

Silat Seni Gayong is widely spread amongst many ordinary coaches that come from the big island of Sumatra, which attracted the interest in youth throughout the villages in the Malay Peninsula before the World War II by the Japanese Army.

Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman Bin Uda Mohd Hashim
Based on the ancestral background of Silat Seni Gayong's Grandmaster, Dato' Meor Abdul Rahman Bin Uda Mohd Hashim, that this Silat belongs to his legacy which he inherits from his Great Grandfather named Sheikh Syed Zainal Bin Sheikh Syed Idris Al Attas who is also called as Datuk Panglima Hitam and the Great Grandson of Tengku Daeng Kuning which was descended from Prince Bugis heroes of Makassar State. The rise of Silat Seni Gayong was led by 5 famous Bugis heroes from Selawese, Riau Islands in the 17th Century. These Daeng (Prince) were: Daeng Marewah; Daeng Celak; Daeng Perani; Daeng Menambun; and Daeng Kamasi.

Haji Hussain Bin Kaslan

As Dato' Meor returned to his homeland Perak, Malaysia; he appointed his earliest student - Late Haji Hussain Bin Kaslan, as an Absolute Representatives and Head Instructor in Singapore. Within 3 years, in 1969, Late Haji Hussain Bin Kaslan was then appointed as an Imam Khalifah (Head Leader) by Dato' Meor in Singapore. In 1970, he continued to further his learnings in Silat Seni Gayong and successfully graduated to Talipinggang Harimau Pelangi Hitam Chula Sakti (T.P.H.P) - Black Belt, from Dato' Meor in Taiping, Perak.
